JOURNEY INTO HARMONY is an innovative art and culture project enabling mutual understanding and an active common experience between Austrian youth and young refugees. Playing together and art serve as tools to build mutual trust and open up minds to achieve sustainable and positive value creation. At the heart of the project are fairy-tales from European culture and home countries of the young refugees which are interpreted and illustrated in small scenes, using different creative activities and skills.

The visual results of the art work generated from the project represent a so called “Myriorama. Originally deriving from the 19th century, a Myriorama is a set of illustrated play-cards which children can arrange and re-arrange, creating new and different panoramic images through the countless possibilities of card arrangements.

From the fairy-tales depicted in JOURNEY INTO HARMONY a Myriorama of stories has emerged, reflecting the infinity of cultures and the endless opportunities of respectful and tolerant togetherness.

The project was realized in 2016 in co-operation with Viennese schools (Wiedner Gymnasium, Lernzentrum Walz and Montessori School) and supported by unaccompanied refugees care taking organizations such as SOS Kinderdorf Austria, Wohngemeinschaften der CARITAS and Verein ZEITRAUM – Thank you!
